Pro: 

-Countries with restrictive gun control laws lower gun homicides and suicides rates than the US

-Legally owned guns are frequently stolen and used by criminals

-would reduce the number of accidental gun deaths 

-2nd amendment was intended to project to protect the right of militias to own guns not the right of individuals.

Con:

-Our constitutional right to have guns (2nd) protects ownership 

- civilians should be armed to protect their own being and property 

-Laws do not apply to criminals there will still be shootings 

-Laws restrict/infringe upon the right to own guns for hunting and sports

-These laws give too much power to government 

-Invasion of privacy for background checks

-Gun control laws and lower gun ownership rates do not prevent suicides 

-More gun control is unnecessary because relatively few people are killed by guns 

-Gun control efforts have proved ineffective in past.
